The story of a mother, a baby, and a journey carved in courage

The luxury of sleep and uninterrupted showers were as far from my reality as a new mother. Around the three-month mark, my baby was dealing with eczema and colic. It felt like motherhood threw me a curveball I wasn't ready for.

So there I was, navigating those pharmacy aisles like a detective on a mission. I was on the hunt for a natural remedy to ease my baby's skin and soothe those colicky cries. My doctor advised me to stick to breastfeeding, and while it offered some relief, it wasn't a lasting solution. I felt like I was hitting a wall, battling both sleep deprivation and helplessness.

But, you know, something ignited within me—a determination to find a way out of this struggle. I realized that my own history with eczema might hold some answers. That's when I started connecting the dots between nutrition and skin health. It was like following a trail of breadcrumbs, each leading me closer to understanding.

I took the leap and got a food allergy test done. And guess what? The results revealed a surprising twist. My own dietary choices while breastfeeding were influencing my baby's skin issues. But this was just the beginning.

Amidst doctor recommendations of steroid creams, I decided to take a different path. Empowered by those test results and the guidance of a wonderful naturopath, I chose a journey toward nourishment and vitality. I revamped my diet, swapping out the not-so-great choices for foods bursting with energy and adding essential supplements. It wasn't an overnight change, but the progress was real.

Slowly, I started noticing shifts in my baby's demeanor. The constant fussiness eased up, bloating became less frequent, and that little one's skin began to clear up. And you know what? My own energy levels got a boost too. It was as if by nourishing her, I was rejuvenating myself.

This journey taught me a few invaluable lessons:

  • Post-partum nutrition is a game-changer—not just for the little one but for us moms too. It's like refueling both body and spirit with the right nutrients at the right time.

  • Convenience and time management became my trusted ally. Between all the baby's demands, I knew I needed a routine that gave me ease and efficiency.

  • It wasn’t just what I ate, it was my stress levels, my confidence, my peace, and my own well-being that made the difference in how I bounced back, physically and emotionally.

  • Using all the tools in my toolkit as a Wellness Coach was my lifesaver. It rescued my sanity and my baby's comfort. And you know what's incredible? Today, I get to share all this knowledge with women like you—women navigating the post-partum phase and beyond.

As you stand at your own crossroads, remember this story—a story of challenges, discoveries, and transformations. Just like I did, you can rise as the hero of your own narrative.

No one told me I needed this much courage just to get my body back.

By the time the second baby came, the 3 finger space in my waistline reminded me that my physical wellbeing needed to be prioritized. The snapback wasn’t snapping so I slowly crawled back to yoga classes with little to no ab strength.

A physical checkup confirmed I had ab separation aka- diastasis recti. This mean the race back to “normal” was going to be a marathon, not a sprint. It also meant that physical movement needed to be intentional to get relief.

My ongoing post-natal practice, 4 years later, still includes a combination of yoga, pilates, resistance training, and outdoor activities. Some of these modalities are offered with my postnatal packages. For more information on classes and personal training sessions click here.
